Buy ants as pets
Have you ever considered buying ants and keeping them as pets? Yes, of course, a dog or a cat, a bunny or a goldfish; those are the pets most people keep. But an ant colony isn't something most of us immediately consider. Yet, you can learn a lot from ants, and it's very easy to start keeping them as pets. Want a unique learning experience and the freedom to build an ant colony your way? Ants have their own lives and are always busy. At Quality Ants, you can buy ants that live completely enclosed in their own ant farm and therefore require minimal care. This leaves you with plenty of time to enjoy your ant colony!
Building your own ant world
You can choose from various varieties. For example, in our webshop you can buy ants such as Messor barbarus , Messor structor, Camponotus nicobarensis, and many more. Start with our starter kit and build a nest and an outdoor world for your ant colony. Or rather: Watch your ants live their lives and help them by giving them the space to do so as well as possible.
A starter kit includes a nest, food, an outdoor world, and of course, your colony! You can, of course, expand your ant colony by purchasing a larger outdoor world for your ants or adding another nest when the colony is large enough. Nests are available in various designs. For example, you can choose a nest made of ytong, acrylic, or plaster, etc.
Caring for your ant colony
Your ants are actually quite good at taking care of themselves. All you need to do is help them out a little every now and then. For example, give the ant colony various nutrients once or twice a week, such as a drop of honeydew or sugar water, a small insect, or some seeds (depending on the species). Removing excess food from your ant colony's surroundings is a good idea. If you notice that the food often remains, give your ants a little less. Keep in mind that small colonies only need a tiny amount of food. Do you need to relocate the ants? You can do this with a connector. Moving them can take a while. If you want to speed things up, place the old habitat in the light and make sure the new habitat is nice and dark. Your ants will then be more likely to seek out the darkness, where they feel much more comfortable.
