Fluon – effective anti-escape barrier for ants

Fluon is a highly effective ant outbreak prevention agent and is used to prevent worker ants from escaping an outside world, arena, or open formicarium. After application, Fluon forms a smooth, dry layer that ants can barely get a grip on. This makes it very difficult for most ant species to climb over the treated edge.

Fluon is particularly suitable for open installations where a fully sealed lid is not used. It can be easily applied to smooth surfaces such as glass, plastic, and acrylic. With a thin, even layer, you quickly create a reliable barrier around the top edge against the outside world.

How do you use Fluon?

Using a small brush, apply a thin, even layer of Fluon along the top inner edge of the outer world. Allow the layer to dry completely before the ants gain access to the treated area.

For the best results, it is important that the surface is clean, dry, and grease-free. A layer that is too thick does not work better; a thin, even layer usually gives the best result.

Check the Fluon layer regularly. Dust, condensation, dirt, and handling can reduce its effectiveness over time. When ants start to get a grip again, remove the old layer if necessary and apply a new thin layer.

Important

Fluon is intended for use as an escape barrier at the top edge of an ant colony. Ensure that the ants do not come into constant direct contact with wet Fluon and always allow the product to dry completely before granting the colony access.

Tip: for large or fast-growing colonies, it is advisable to check the barrier regularly and reapply it in a timely manner.
