Your ants are actually very good at grooming themselves. All you have to do is give them a little help every now and then. For example, once or twice a week, you give the ant colony various nutrients in the form of a drop of honeydew or sugar water, a small insect or some seeds (depending on the species). 

Removing excess food from the cage of your ant colony is a good idea. Do you notice that the food is often left behind? Give your ants a little less, think in small sizes. A small only colony needs a very small amount of food. Is it necessary to move the ants? This is possible with a coupling piece. The move may take a while. If you want it to go faster, put the old living environment in the light and make sure that the new living environment is nice and dark. Your ants will then look for the darkness more quickly. They feel much better there.
