Tetramorium bicarinatum is a species in the subfamily Myrmicinae. It is a colorful and active ant species that will start to grow faster and faster. When this species grows above 2000 workers it will start to produce fertilized queens, creating extremely large colonies that can grow extremely quickly. This species is also slightly invasive and can cause an infestation if they escape. That is why we also recommend a good formicarium (stay) from our webshop. So this is definitely not a beginner strain!

Buying the tetramorium bicarinatum means getting an ant that lives in both Europe and Asia. The ant is notable for its very short length. The queen does not even grow larger than 4 or 5 millimeters. The workers are not much smaller in this case and reach a length of between 3 and 5 millimeters. Buying the tetramorium bicarinatum does mean that you will have to deal with ants that do not hibernate. The ants are therefore very active all year round.

A jelly cup is large and can last a very long time.
