The worker ants have to make do with between 3 and 4 millimeters. Buying a Crematogaster auberti does mean you're buying an ant that hibernates. The ants hibernate sometime between November and March at a temperature between 12 and 15 degrees Celsius. If you want to treat the ants, make sure the temperature is always between 20 and 29 degrees Celsius, with the ants themselves preferring a temperature around 26 or 27 degrees Celsius.
