Sometimes an ant colony isn't doing quite right, or you want to speed up its growth. In that case, there's a natural solution: boosting the colony with pupae. Pupae are ants in their cocoon stage. Adding these pupae to the ant colony, also known as brood boosting, can give it a nice boost! At Quality Ants, you can easily buy pupae to boost your colony.
What is brood boosting?
Brood boosting simply means adding brood to a colony to expand it and give it a boost, so to speak. Pupae is the term for ant in the cocoon stage. These pupae belong to the final life cycle phase, from egg to ant, and the pupae will hatch naturally. By adding pupae, the ant colony receives additional workers, giving it a boost. Unlike larvae, pupae don't require food and therefore demand little energy from the workers. The advantage of boosting brood using pupae is that the colony grows faster.
