The Premium Modular Gypsum Nest is a high-quality and compact ant nest for growing ant colonies. The nest is part of the same Premium Modular series and combines a spacious tunnel and chamber system with the moisture-regulating properties of gypsum.

The plaster nest section is handmade, ensuring that each nest is crafted and finished with care. Combined with the sturdy housing, transparent top, and modular coupling system, this creates a practical nest that is not only functional but also has a luxurious appearance.

Measuring 12.5 × 12.5 × 3 cm, this module offers significantly more nesting space than the Premium Modular Foundation Nest and forms a logical next step when a colony begins to grow further.

Handmade plaster nest

The heart of this module consists of a handmade plaster nest with various chambers and passages. The variation in the shape and size of the chambers provides the colony with different spaces for, for example, housing brood and gathering the workers.

Plaster has the major advantage of being able to absorb moisture and gradually release it. This allows a moisture gradient to develop in the nest, and the nest area can be moistened as needed.

Thanks to the transparent top, the colony remains clearly visible. This allows you to closely observe the development of the colony, the brood, and the use of the various nest chambers without having to open the nest every time.

For growing ant colonies

With its dimensions of 12.5 × 12.5 × 3 cm, this plaster nest is intended for colonies that require more nesting space than a small foundation nest or test tube can offer.

The various chambers ensure a clear layout, while the compact size prevents the nest from taking up unnecessary space.

The speed at which a colony fills the nest varies greatly by ant species. It is therefore wise not to look solely at the number of workers, but especially at how much of the available nest surface is actually used.

Modularly expandable

The Premium Modular Gypsum Nest is part of our Premium Modular nest series. This allows the system to grow with the development of the ant colony.

The nest features a connection suitable for a 9 mm hose. This allows the plaster nest to be connected to, for example, the outside world, another nest module, or another suitable expansion.

Additionally, all nests in this Premium Modular series can be connected directly to each other using a matching connector. For example, you can start with the Premium Modular Foundation Nest and add this plaster nest later as a larger nest module.

When the colony subsequently needs more space again, other compatible modules can be added to the system. This means you do not have to move the entire colony to a new enclosure every time.

Exits with lockable gates

The exits are equipped with practical gates that allow the connection to be opened and closed. This allows you to determine which exit is accessible to the colony at any given moment.

This is especially useful when connecting a new module, disconnecting a section, or when a specific output is temporarily not in use.

Together with the modular connector system, this makes it possible to create various nest configurations and adapt them later to the development of the colony.

Part of one Premium system

The major advantage of the Premium Modular series is that you do not have to purchase a completely new system every time the colony grows. The various modules are designed to form a single expandable nest system together.

For example, start with a compact foundation nest, add this larger plaster nest later, and expand the system further when necessary. This allows the housing to grow step by step along with the colony.
